The Stooges: Fun House Vinyl Reissue

I appreciate a reissue of an album I have not listened to in years. In the case of Rhino High Fidelity's new vinyl version of The Stooges' 1970 release, Fun House, it is a opportunity to listen to an old favorite with fresh ears and a new perspective on its place in the annals of rock music history. You can read a more comprehensive review of the entire box set sessions for Fun House from Tape Op #22 , but in short, the original LP was considered a failure in terms of sales, and ultimately got the band dropped from Elektra Records. In hindsight, this proto-punk masterpiece stands up tall. Bluesy, sludgy, aggressive, and beautifully sloppy performances laced with with Iggy Pop's "f*&k you" vocal delivery make for a splendid listen. Limited to 5000 numbered copies, this 180-gram vinyl pressing was cut from the original master tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio, pressed at Optimal Media, and includes a 4-panel insert with new liner notes from Iggy Pop. You can also check out Steve Albini discussing his sessions with The Stooges in Tape Op #87.
